McNormal's: Another Last Food Restaurant by: Roscoe Smith

CHAPTER FIVE: After Midnight: Give Me Strength

PAGE 47

The girl kept asking questions like, "Were the classes hard?" "What were the parties like?" "Were the other students friendly?" She wanted to know what I studied at college. I assumed she wanted to know about college life. Then she changed the subject and asked me about my experience with McNormal's. Was this really my first night? Was I going to work there long?

This questioning kept up for about five minutes. The girl who was leaning on the sink was on my left side. She stood up and then she leaned again. I continued doing dishes. The girl asking the questions stood on my right side near where I was stacking the washed, sanitized dishes. I figured, since I was new, these girls wanted to interrogate me and learn about the new Employee. I also figured, if I was polite they would tire of their game and satisfy their curiosity and leave me to my work. It was cute they were interested in me, but they were too young for me to take a second look at. They were 'Jail Bait'. The girl asking the questions was folding her arms and looking impatiently at the girl who was leaning on the sink. I hoped she was bored and almost finished giving me the third degree.

I moved to the right to place a sanitized dish on the stack to drain and air dry. Then I moved back to the wash sink to grab another dish out of the soapy water. Suddenly, the girl who was leaning on the sink did a really bizarre thing. She stepped to her right until she was very close to me and she started fishing into the soapy water for a dish. My left arm was in the wash sink fishing for a dish. She pushed herself next to me and touched shoulders while she reached into the wash sink with her right arm, she rubbed her elbow against mine. This might be fun and games if she was my age or I was her age, but that wasn't the case. My guess was she was about seventeen years old. I was twenty six years old. After a two second shock, I stood up and looked at the girl with her right arm in the dish water,"Excuse me, if you want to do these dishes, I can let you and I'll watch." I stepped back from the sinks to avoid contact with this HighSchooler. My hands were dripping soapy water.
