McNormal's: Another Last Food Restaurant by: Roscoe Smith

CHAPTER TWO: The Interview: Meeting McNormal's

PAGE 8

The goal to set for myself would be Management. Ideally, future ownership of a McNormal's Family Restaurant. Who knows, maybe a whole chain of McNormal's restaurants. Or maybe I'd start a whole new franchise with what I learned right here on the Midnight Shift. I could call the new place Curtis Burger after that famous astronaut guy. Sure, that's the ticket, I could do a space motif, space ships, aliens from the outer limits. What the heck. Good food at a fair price with good service and the sky's the limit.

Back to earth, I didn't even start yet. The best I could do for now is work here for a while and put some savings aside. I heard,'At McNormal's the pay is bad at first, but once your dues are paid, they treat you pretty well.' Someone else told me,'Fast food is a career with a future because people will always need to eat.' So what? McNormal's Midnight Shift. I'll pay some dues and I'll pay some overdue bills, then I'll move on with what I learn and start over. I sure wasn't planning to work for someone else for the rest of my life. As I exitted the shopping center parking lot, I rationalized the situation. The Midnight Shift would provide an excellent training to learn grill technique and how to run a food service business. Then I realized, I never stayed awake all night. That would be a challenge for sure.
