McNormal's: Another Last Food Restaurant by: Roscoe Smith

CHAPTER ONE: In the Beginning: There was Roscoe

PAGE 1

It seems there are always little chores left undone in a life that's busy doing other things besides finishing little chores. The little chores can build up, similar to backwater building up before a flood. The little chores can build up until an uncontrollable flood of problems evolves. As I look back, it's apparent my present situation could have been avoided by keeping up with all my little chores. If only I had applied that ounce of prevention, the pound of cure could have been used much more wisely. My name is Roscoe Smith, this is my story.

My involvement with McNormal's Family Restaurant began three years ago when I was down on my luck. I was looking for any work I could find. There were several McNormal's Family Restaurants in my area so I filed applications at all stores within driving distance. One store finally called, I was getting desperate.

It was the beginning of the month of April. I never considered McNormal's would provide challenging employment, but I sure did need a job. At 2:30, I was preparing to leave the house and file an application at a local department store. The telephone rang, I answered with my usual tone, "Hello, Smith residence." A female's voice responded,"Hello, is Roscoe there?" "Speaking," I said. The person on the other end of the line paused, I had a feeling she was getting up her nerve. "Hi, this is Barbera from McNormal's. You put in an application here for a Grill Person job?" I told Barbera,"I filed applications at all the McNormal's in the area." I thanked her for calling. She paused again, I had the feeling she was being careful with her words. "Yes, I know,"she said. "Can you come up here this afternoon for an interview?" I asked,"Ah, what time?" If I went to McNormals's for an interview, that would alter my plan to file an application at the department store.
